How Romestead crafting leads into town automation

Romestead’s official description links three ideas: survivors can be recruited as artisans, towns become centres for crafting and farming, and those towns can eventually use automated production. A crafting station belongs to that progression rather than standing alone.

Artisans give production a specialist

Survivors are not described only as extra population. The game identifies some recruits as artisans, connecting settlement growth with specialised production work.

The Logistics Tent marks the automation layer

Developer notes identify the Logistics Tent as a requirement for town automation. The same update moved it earlier, increased material-storage capacity, and gave non-repeating ordered tasks priority over repeating ones. Those changes show that automation has its own buildings and task rules.

  1. GatheringHeavy resources enter the settlement as physical objects.
  2. CraftingRecruited artisans help turn the town into a production centre.
  3. AutomationThe Logistics Tent and connected storage extend production beyond manual hauling.

Read a new station by its layer

The useful question is not simply whether a station is unlocked. Ask which layer currently supports it: raw gathering, artisan crafting, or logistics automation. That keeps the explanation tied to systems the developer has actually described.
