FEED THE QUEEN guide
FEED THE QUEEN Rebirth Timing Guide
Rebirth when the current colony has stopped giving useful progress and the reset improves your next route more than another small upgrade would. Do not Rebirth just because the button looks cheaper after patch 1.0.3. Stabilize food flow, delivery, worker balance, and your rare-progression plan first, then reset when the next run will clearly start stronger.
What this guide helps with
The bad Rebirth is the one that resets a messy colony without learning why it was messy. If food was stuck, workers were misassigned, or Brain Matter was spent into the wrong wall, Rebirth can hide the mistake for a few minutes and then bring it back harder.
Patch 1.0.3 made Rebirth less punishing by removing the Larvae cost and changing some Brain Matter refund behavior. That makes testing less scary. It does not make blind resets optimal.
The trap is using Rebirth like a frustration button. If the Queen was waiting because your delivery chain was jammed, the next run will probably jam again. Your run is not dead yet just because progress slowed; it becomes wasted when you reset before learning which handoff failed.

Pre-Rebirth Checklist
Before pressing Rebirth, run this quick audit. You need to know whether the reset is solving a strategic problem or just escaping a messy screen.
Think of Rebirth like restarting a deckbuilder run after seeing a bad draft. Restarting is useful only if you know what pick poisoned the deck. If all you know is "the run felt bad," wait one more short cycle and identify the first real clog.
- Name the current wall. Is the colony blocked by input, transformation, delivery, worker balance, rare progression, or evolution prep?
- Check whether one normal upgrade still fixes it. If a cheap fix solves the wall, take the fix before resetting.
- Decide what carries forward. Rebirth should make the next route cleaner, not just erase the current board.
- Protect the next first route. Know what you will do differently in the first few minutes after reset.
- Review patch-sensitive assumptions. Patch 1.0.3 changed Larvae and some refund pressure, so older habits may be too conservative or too sloppy.
When Waiting Is Better
Waiting is correct when the current run still has useful information to give you. If you have not identified why the Queen is waiting, why workers are busy but progress is flat, or why an upgrade felt weak, resetting can delay the real fix.
When Rebirth Is Better
Rebirth starts making sense when you understand the current wall and the reset gives a stronger next route. The key is intent. A good Rebirth has a short plan for the next run: what starts earlier, what gets delayed, and which mistake will not be repeated.
If this is happening after several resets, it usually means the reset timing is not the main problem. Stop changing the whole opening. Repeat the stable part, change one bottleneck decision, and treat the next Rebirth as a controlled test instead of a full emotional reroll.

How to use this guide
Use this page when Rebirth is tempting but the current run still has visible progress left. The safer habit is to name the bottleneck first, then decide whether a reset actually fixes that bottleneck.
