Unlocks
Meta progression
God unlocks are tied to long-term progression. Clear scenarios, earn Faith Crystals,
then spend them on support gods that solve the problems blocking your next clear.
How god selection works
The player role is centered on Epimetheus, while support gods shape the run around
growth, conversion, recovery, war, or stability. That means unlock planning should
be practical: do not chase every god at once. Unlock the kind of answer your runs lack.
Support gods to track
GodMain rolePick when
ZeusGrowth, bloodline pressure, and direct heretic clearingYou need safer population creation and a fast answer to red-outline threats
ApolloHealing and nonviolent conversion pressureYou want to turn enemies into useful population instead of destroying them
HadesRecovery and population preservation after lossesWar, plague, or mistakes keep cutting down important followers
AresCombat pressure and holy-war routesYour plan uses believers as an army, not only as a faith engine
HestiaDefensive stability through Hearth ProtectionYour territory needs to hold pressure while faith grows
HeraPopulation growth with a risk tradeoffYou need more bodies and can manage deformity risk
PoseidonUnlockable support godCompare after your core growth and faith tools are stable
AthenaUnlockable support godCompare when your run needs more planning and city-state control
Early unlock priority
For early progression, prioritize gods or upgrades that make clears more consistent:
population creation, faith stability, heretic control, and recovery after disasters.
A god that helps you finish scenarios faster indirectly helps you earn more crystals.
- First priority: unlock an answer for population growth or faith stability.
- Second priority: add a clean heretic answer, either conversion or punishment.
- Third priority: improve recovery so one bad war or disaster does not end the run.
- Later priority: test aggressive holy-war or deformity-risk strategies once clears are stable.
Failure Checks
ProblemLikely causeFix
You unlocked a god but clears are not easierThe god does not answer the failure that ends your runsIdentify whether you lose to population, faith, heretics, war, or recovery before spending more crystals
You keep spreading crystals across too many optionsNo route planCommit to one reliable clear route, then add experimental gods later
Heretic scenarios still spiralYour unlocks lack conversion or punishment pressurePrioritize Apollo-style conversion support or Zeus/Ares-style direct answers before niche upgrades
Late disasters erase good startsThe route has no recovery layerAdd Hades, healing, defensive stability, or safer population planning before pushing harder maps
Unlock planning rule
Treat each unlock as a tool for one repeated failure. If your settlement dies before it
becomes productive, growth and stability matter more than a flashy combat route. If the
city grows well but loses to rival belief pressure, conversion or punishment becomes the
better unlock target. This keeps Faith Crystals pointed at consistency instead of novelty.
