Pandora's Toybox Resources Guide

Last updated: May 31, 2026 Resources Systems

Pandora's Toybox has two resource layers: normal settlement resources keep humans alive and growing, while divine resources let you intervene. If a run stalls, check ordinary resources first, then faith income, then artifacts and technology. Most failed runs are not caused by one missing miracle; they are caused by spending divine resources before the city-state can support the plan.

Resource Priority Table

ResourceLayerWhat it controlsBeginner priority
PopulationSettlementWorkforce, believers, recovery room, and long-term growth.Keep stable before forcing advanced plans.
FoodSurvivalWhether population can grow safely.Fix immediately if growth stalls.
Wood / StoneConstructionHousing, basic structures, and city-state development.Support the next objective, not every possible building.
Faith PointsDivine actionMiracles, prayers, conversion, punishment, and recovery.Spend for clear returns and keep an emergency reserve.
Faith CrystalsMeta progressionGod unlocks and future-run improvement.Earn through scenario progress and spend on smoother clears.
Artifacts / TechnologyStrategic advantageLonger-term scaling, specialization, and stronger civilization tools.Take when they support the current route.

Fix Resources in This Order

  1. Population first. If people are not stable, every faith plan becomes fragile.
  2. Food second. Food problems turn into population problems, then faith problems.
  3. Construction materials third. Wood and stone matter when they unlock useful housing, production, or scenario progress.
  4. Faith reserve fourth. Spend faith after the settlement can survive the consequence of the spend.
  5. Artifacts and technology last. Take strategic rewards when they reinforce the current plan instead of distracting from it.

Divine Resources

ResourceGood useBad use
Faith PointsSaving a city, converting pressure, answering a prayer, or finishing a scenario.Constant small casts that leave no emergency reserve.
Faith CrystalsUnlocking gods or upgrades that make future clears more reliable.Spending without knowing which future bottleneck you are solving.
PrayersTaking rewards that match your current city-state problem.Answering every prayer when it drains faith from the objective.

Settlement Resources

Food, wood, stone, and population are less exciting than divine powers, but they decide whether a city-state can make use of those powers. Before spending faith on growth or punishment, check whether the settlement can support the result. A miracle that creates more pressure than the city can absorb is not really a solution.

If you are stuck...Check firstSafer fix
Population does not growFood supply and city stabilitySupport food and housing before pushing advanced goals.
Buildings lag behindWood and stone availabilityPrioritize the building that supports the scenario objective.
Faith income feels weakBeliever base and rival belief pressureStabilize people and answer heretics earlier.
Prayers feel expensiveWhether the reward solves the current routeSkip low-impact prayers and keep emergency faith.

Artifacts, Bloodlines, and Technology

Treat artifacts, bloodlines, and technology as route-shaping resources. They are strongest when they support the thing your run is already trying to do: stabilize growth, convert pressure, defend against rivals, or finish the objective. They are weaker when you chase them only because they are available.

Version note: exact reward values and unlock details can change. This guide avoids fixed numbers unless they have been rechecked in the current build.
