Rotwood Weapons and Combat Guide
Last updated: June 28, 2026Combat guideWeapon decisions
Choose a Rotwood weapon by the combat problem it solves: close-range control, safer reach, burst punish windows, or ranged pressure. A weapon is ready for harder hunts only when you can name its safe opener, reset option, and boss punish window.
Weapon Role Table
Weapon needWhat to prioritizeGood signBad sign
Safe close pressureFast entries, clear reset points, defensive gear support. You can hit once or twice and leave cleanly.Every combo ends with a trade.
Heavy punish windowsEnemy reads, stagger timing, room control. You wait for the right opening before committing. You start slow attacks into active enemies.
Reach or ranged controlSpacing, target order, stamina-like discipline.Enemies cross space on your terms. You kite forever without ending threats.
Co-op coverageComplement partner weapons instead of duplicating all jobs. One player controls space while another punishes.Everyone chases damage and no one covers rescue windows.
Safe Combo Rule
Rotwood rewards combat mastery, but mastery does not mean pressing every attack button as soon as it is available. Build your weapon plan around three repeatable states: entry, punish, and reset. If you cannot reset safely after the punish, the combo is not beginner-safe yet.
- Entry: how you begin pressure without eating a free hit.
- Punish: the short damage window you can repeat under pressure.
- Reset: the dodge, spacing, or teammate cover that prevents greed from becoming damage taken.
Entry / Punish / Reset Worksheet
When a weapon feels wrong, split the test into three questions before blaming the weapon. A clean entry gets you into the fight, a short punish turns an opening into damage, and a reset keeps the next enemy action from turning greed into a death spiral.

EntryHow do I start pressure without eating the first hit?The room opens with space under control.Slow the opener, clear the interrupter, or choose a safer first target.
PunishWhich enemy action gives me a repeatable short window?Damage lands after a pattern you can name.Cut the combo shorter until the punish survives boss or elite pressure.
ResetWhere do I stand after the hit lands? You leave with a dodge path, teammate cover, or safe spacing.Stop extending the string and spend the next hunt practicing exits.
Target orderWhich enemy makes the other problems worse? The fight becomes simpler after that threat dies.Change target priority before changing the weapon direction.
Target Priority Check
Room readTarget firstReasonAvoid
One enemy interrupts combos. The interrupter. It makes every other fight messier.Trying to burst the tank while interrupts stay active.
Small enemies surround a slow weapon. The nearest space blocker.Your weapon needs room before it needs damage.Charging heavy attacks in a crowd.
A ranged or mobile enemy controls the edge. The pressure source you cannot ignore. It limits safe recovery paths.Tunnel vision on the nearest target.
Co-op room splits apart. The target threatening the weakest player.Saving a run is stronger than chasing personal DPS.Letting one player die while others farm damage.
Weapon Comfort Test
A weapon is not ready for harder hunts just because one room went well. It is ready when the same basic answer survives normal rooms, elite pressure, and boss openings. Use this test before spending heavily into a weapon direction.
Comfort checkWhat to tryGood resultIf it fails
First-room checkOpen each fight with the safest entry, not the flashiest string. You control space before taking damage.Practice slower entry or choose a safer first target.
Pressure checkWhen interrupted, stop attacking and prove the reset path. The weapon still has an exit under messy pressure.Shorten strings and add control or survival support.
Boss checkUse one repeatable punish window instead of room-clearing combos.Damage lands after a pattern you can recognize. The weapon needs boss-specific practice before more upgrades.
Co-op checkAsk what job your weapon covers when another player is pressured. The weapon helps rescue, control, or punish instead of only chasing damage.Switch roles or coverage before switching weapons.

Damage looks high but rooms feel unsafe. The weapon plan has no reset.Shorten combos until exits are reliable.Beginner Guide
Boss windows feel impossible. You have not separated room combos from boss punish windows.Practice one boss-safe punish, not full room strings.Boss Prep
Co-op damage overlaps badly.Weapons are not covering different jobs.Assign control, punish, rescue, and ranged pressure roles.Co-op Roles
Before your next weapon swap
If a weapon feels bad, prove why before you abandon it. Was the opener unsafe, the punish too greedy, or the reset missing? Swap when the weapon cannot solve your problem, not just because the last room made you mad.
